I'm an interior design student and my husband and I just bought our first home a few months ago. It is a 20 year old townhouse & we bought it for much less than the comps (same size & layout) in our neighborhood have been selling for. So far, we've replaced our kitchen countertops, appliances, and kitchen floor. We've re-painted just about everything to a neutral beige color. In Feb., when we do our taxes, we're going to replace all our carpet throughout our house, get new windows, a new front door, and new sliding glass door in our kitchen. We're going to be doing a lot!

We have already purchased ceramic tile for the bathroom floor, we've replaced the countertop, sink, faucet, light fixtures, etc. We had the bathtub resurfaced several months ago, but it's peeling & chipping. It's awful. I was thinking about using Rebath, but I know it's a cheap & easy alternative. These houses aren't selling for enough to do anything really extravagant with marble or granite or anything. Do you think that would be ok for resale?
*Sombra*-- To answer your questions, Rebath is a company that will install a new bathtub over an old one. The sellers had the house resurfaced about a week before we bought the house. He left the receipt for us in case we needed it. About a month after we moved in, it started peeling. We called the guy & he came right out & fixed it. Within a few weeks, it was peeling again. We'd rather not deal with the headache.

In general, kitchens and bathrooms sell a house. Also the money well spent in both places is usually gotten back upon resale. On the other hand, things like swimming pools make a house harder to sell and never pay off.
